Job Description

We are growing our team to enhance the care at Marianhill in response to the new Fixing Long-Term Care Act. As a result, we are recruiting for a Full Time Unit Manager.

Marianhill is a faith based, not-for-profit organization that provides long-term care, complex continuing care, community support services, palliative and hospice care services. Marianhill is accredited with Exemplary Standing.

Under the direction of the Director of Care, the Unit Manager assists with the provision of Resident care. Duties are performed in accordance with Marianhill's mission statement, established policies and procedures, current legislation and in a manner that respects the uniqueness, dignity, worth, self-respect, self-determination and autonomy of our Residents to promote maximum independence.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) diploma or degree with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Performs direct clinical care (i.e. skin and wound) clinical assessments and ensures proper updates to resident plan of care. Evaluates required clinical programs such as Falls Prevention, Skin and Wound Care, Palliative Care and Quality of Life Programs. Responds promptly to concerns of residents and family members, mediating a satisfactory response to concerns and implementing action plans to avoid reoccurrence of similar issues. Performs other duties as assigned applicable within nursing and management roles. Excellent attendance is required and expected. Management/supervisory experience in a unionized long term care setting is preferred. A minimum of three years' experience in long-term care is preferred. Computer/typing proficiency to enter/retrieve data in electronic clinical records; experience with email, Internet research, use of online calendars and other software applications. Oral and written proficiency in French is preferred. Oral and written proficiency in English is required.
