RAPS is Seeking a Support Worker to assist an individual with Autism (E3)

Location

: Northeast Edmonton (Schonsee)

Days: Monday to Friday

Hours: 9:30am-4:30pm

: Duties include but are not limited to promoting and assisting with independent life skills (personal hygiene, simple meal prep, light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping), plan activities and prepare necessary materials, explore inclusive opportunities within the community (volunteer & employment), assist with expressive communication (verbal and written), must be able to plan activities, prepare materials and measure the progress.

Qualifications and Other Requirements

: The successful candidate must have a clear criminal record check containing the vulnerable sector, at least 2 years of experience supporting people with autism one-on-one within a family managed support. Knowledge and dedication to advocate for all people to have equal rights as citizens.

Have a valid driver's license and vehicle with ($2 million insurance), current first aid & CPR (or willing to obtain shortly after hire) and be a non-smoker.

Must be able to use various ways to communicate including, use of iPad, visual scheduling, verbal communication, and basic sign language to support communication skills.

The ideal candidate will be taking initiatives, be able to work independently, and with the family, while being resourceful.

Preference given to those with a background in Education assistance, Social work, recreation therapy and Speech Therapy and occupational therapy.

Rate of Pay

: $25.25/hour- including mileage.
