Job Summary
The Server is responsible for providing an exceptional dining experience by taking orders accurately, delivering food and beverages promptly, and ensuring guest satisfaction from start to finish. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service
Greet guests warmly and provide menus and daily specials
Take food and beverage orders accurately and promptly
Deliver orders efficiently and ensure correct items are served
Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests
Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally, escalating to a manager when necessary
Menu Knowledge & Upselling
Maintain thorough knowledge of the menu, daily specials, and promotions
Provide recommendations and upsell items such as appetizers, desserts, and beverages
Offer guidance on wine, cocktails, and beer pairings
Order Processing & Accuracy
Enter orders into the POS system quickly and accurately
Ensure dietary restrictions and special requests are communicated clearly to the kitchen/bar
Verify bills and process payments accurately, handling cash, credit cards, and tips responsibly
Cleanliness & Safety
Maintain a clean and organized section, including tables and service stations
Follow all food safety and health regulations in accordance with Ontario public health standards
Check guest identification to ensure compliance with AGCO alcohol service regulations
Teamwork & Communication
Collaborate with colleagues, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service
Support teammates during busy periods or when help is needed
Attend pre-shift meetings and participate in ongoing training
Professionalism & Reliability
Arrive on time, in proper uniform, ready to work
Maintain a positive and professional attitude under pressure
Demonstrate initiative to go above and beyond for guests
Qualifications
Previous serving experience preferred but not required
Smart Serve certification (required in Ontario for alcohol service)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
