What is Recovery Based Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH)?
PSH is a 24/7 support that works with some of the most vulnerable in our community to provide housing stability and improve quality of life. PSH believes that housing is a right and that everyone deserves a safe and stable home. The individuals working with PSH have complex needs and have a history of homelessness or housing instability. The program utilizes trauma informed, recovery oriented and person-centered approach to supporting individuals to stabilize their housing and connect to necessary supports identified through individualized service plans.
About the position:
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and in conjunction with the program team, the Overnight Awake Worker will be responsible for the nightly operations of the Permanent Supportive Housing site. The Overnight Awake Worker will be available to individuals living in the PSH buildings. Additionally, the Overnight Awake Worker will be available by phone to up to 30 additional PSH participants housed in the community and supported by PSH Case Managers. Supports, services and level of care is tailored to the participant's needs in a person-centred, culturally sensitive, strengths-based, recovery oriented, trauma informed, holistic fashion.
The shifts for this position are 8pm-8am, four nights on/four nights off.
Here's how you will contribute as a Support Worker within the Permanent Supportive Housing Program
:
Support Workers will support up to 30 individuals in a congregate living facility, by assisting with activities of daily living.
Create and maintain positive relationships with the service participants as well as the community people seeking support.
Using your knowledge and experience, support in handling crisis situations within the buildings.
Offer in-suite support to each participant to help ensure their long-term housing stability.
Actively engaging with all service participants while on shift as time allows.
Deliver community events for the participants as planned, while on your shift.
Support with general cleaning around the buildings, unit move-out cleans, and general building maintenance.
Offer support to the Intensive Case Managers as requested. This may include phone calls, document signing as well as other tasks.
Efficient case noting and documentation is required.

Here's what you'll need to get an interview:
Degree/Diploma in human services, criminal justice, or related field; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Understanding of Housing First philosophy, Permanent Supported Housing model, cognitive and physical disabilities, addictions, and mental health.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders and with participant case coordination.
Experience working with multi-barriered individuals and diverse populations.
Demonstrate professionalism within all aspects of employment.
Attention to accuracy and detail.
Microsoft Office abilities (SharePoint, One Drive, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate.
Clear Intervention Record Check and Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector dated within the past six months
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License, Driver's Abstract, and use of reliable vehicle with $2M Third Party Liability insurance.
