Full Time Maintenance MechanicPosition posting number: 230355 Rate of Pay: Reference OPSEU Service Collective Agreement Schedule: Full Time Dual-Site Assignment Location: Walkerton, Kincardine Applications are currently being accepted for a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic Position in the Maintenance Department at the Walkerton site with shifts also assigned to the Kincardine site of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre. Duties Include:
Responds to demand and scheduled work orders as generated by work order system to ensure that hospital business is not interrupted and record resolution data in the service maintenance management database
Maintain and operate low and high pressure package steam boilers, hot water heating boilers and boiler auxiliary equipment
Maintaining communication with the Facilities Manager
Operate, monitor, inspects, maintains, repairs and troubleshoots boilers and auxiliary equipment, computer terminals, switches, valves, gauges, alarms and machines by, testing, analyzing, and diagnosing to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, relevant guidelines, legislation and codes
Monitor and test boiler water quality, chemical levels, fuel levels and take necessary corrective action, make adjustments to maintain required levels to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems
Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work and record data
Performs preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment including valves, pumps, belts, motors, fans, air handling systems etc. and corrects problems that are identified. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentation is maintained
Oversees heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration / fire systems and building control systems
Monitors alarms, gauges and other instruments
Completes general handyman duties as assigned, including plunging toilets, hanging pictures, patching and painting walls, etc
Maintains all assigned tools and workshop areas are kept clean
Participates in a scheduled on call and afternoon rotation to ensure appropriate site coverage
Actively manages relationship with customers and ensures their satisfaction
Works as part of a team and provides assistance to other trades as required
Orders and receives material for maintenance/projects as required
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Possess secondary school graduation diploma
Licensed in a recognized trade is required
Possess current class G Ontario Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
Knowledge of and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety practices.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position
Effective communication skills and ability to organize work in a manner that meets a variety of needs
Computer skills an asset
Excellent Customer Service
Strong problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
