Reporting to the Director of Community Programs, this role will provide case management to group of Canada Border Service Agency clients, on a part-time basis. In this role you will attend SA Halfway Houses, and the CBSA Office. You will be required to interview clients with community supervision, and as needed, 1-1 program delivery, for 16 hours per week. Additionally, you will be required to deliver community programs either in person or virtually to correctional and community clients and provide administrative support to the Director of Community Programs for 19 hours per week.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADT-CCMS Position (16 hours per week)

  • Attend and liaise with ATD residence on a regular basis
  • Ability to develop a therapeutic rapport with clients
  • Individual case management
  • Develop a comprehensive case management plan for each assigned client per CBSA policies & procedures
  • Assist clients to address their needs-mental health, health, addictions/substance abuse, housing & employment, child/family, and compliance programming
  • Observe, assess and document client behaviour and ongoing progress in a factual manner
  • Deal with serious incidents and crisis in a safe and therapeutic manner
  • Appear in court/IRB when necessary
  • Assure clients are provided with appropriate medical attention
  • Refer clients to outside resources and counselling when needed
  • Support clients in fulfilling their spiritual needs
Program Delivery (19 hours per week)
  • Deliver and facilitate correctional programs both virtually and in person to participants
  • Maintain records on all attendees and absences
  • Provide notes post workshop of who attended and who was absence and provide a statistics report back to the Crown
  • Prepare participant certificates
  • Refer clients to outside resources and counselling when needed
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This is a permanent full time position based on 35 hours per week
  • Working environment is typically in the office and remote in generally agreeable conditions
  • Working with individuals who may have a criminal record
  • Working with individuals who have Immigration concerns
  • Occasional travel and some scheduled overtime is associated with this position
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Correctional/Social Services field
  • Up to date First Aid/CPR or willingness to receive training
  • Up to date Non-Violent Crisis Prevention & Intervention Certificate
  • Valid Ontario Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d Driver\'s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver\'s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • 3 to 5 years to relevant experience working in corrections and case management
  • Previous experience working with people in the correctional justice system
  • Understanding and knowledge of the CJS and processes
  • Experience in a case management system
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Communication in French considered an asset
  • Proficient computer skills using Word, Excel and other office software
  • Strong understanding of professional boundaries when working with a vulnerable population
  • Patience and ability to deescalate situations
  • Ability to problem solve and make independent decisions within established framework while understanding the impact decisions will have on programming as well as programs around them Knowledge of the community considered an asset
  • Able to build and strengthen relationships with the community
  • Required to complete enhanced CBSA security clearance
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
