Supervise driving staff and lead all driving operations in an efficient and effective manner utilizing all available resources (personnel, equipment and facility) in support of operational objectives
Assign daily tasks/responsibilities to driving team to complete directives received from Management
Supervise team to use appropriate processes and software systems to ensure secure, accurate, timely and efficient receipt and dispatch of product into/out of the warehouse including execution of FIFO methodology and inventory reconciliation
Design and implement processes and artifacts to ensure all shipping and receiving documentation is maintained in accordance with industry standards
Co-ordinate with the Supply Chain Manager to prepare shipments required for daily scheduled deliveries and pickups as scheduled with ON Division Ministry Units, making optimal use of available resources
Inventory Management - supervise team in the use of appropriate processes and software systems to ensure secure, accurate, timely and efficient management of product, including execution of FIFO methodology and inventory reconciliation
Monitor inventory levels and provide regular, timely feedback to management regarding specific food needs
Monitor and report level of MRO goods to management to ensure continuity of supply
Supervise the planned maintenance of warehouse equipment and troubleshoot/replace as needed
Maintain and update inspection and maintenance records for all of warehouse equipment
Provide training and adopt all appropriate policies with respect to food handling and best before/expiry date requirements to ensure all food distributed complies with appropriate guidelines
Ensure protocols and procedures for all visitors to the warehouse are followed, keeping warehouse organized, neat and clean as required, meeting Department of Health standards
Ensure security and fraud prevention monitoring of all warehouse facility
Implement all appropriate Quality Control systems and processes
Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the warehouse staff to ensure productivity/performance targets are met or exceeded
In conjunction with Supply Chain Manager, responsible for staff orientation and development
Oversee staff training and monitor staff performance and progress. Ensure all staffing concerns are escalated to the Supply Chain Manager as necessary and handled in accordance with Salvation Army policies and procedures
Supervise warehouse volunteers to ensure they are directed and trained for assigned tasks in accordance with Health and Safety standards
Supervise warehouse staff in the execution of all required warehouse functions to support a successful Toy Mountain Campaign including warehouse preparation and sorting, inventory management and order fulfilment related to toys
Supervision of teams of toy sorting volunteers to process toys in an efficient, effective and safe way
Monitor inventory levels and provide regular, timely feedback to management regarding specific toy needs
Motivate and lead warehouse team to meet extraordinary work demands of Toy Mountain Campaign
Administration:
Provides assistant to the Supply Chain/Operations Manager in day-to-day administrative duties.
Supervise all warehouse activities when Supply Chain/Operations Manager is not at work
Ensure fleet, maintenance, insurance, and vehicle servicing logs are kept and accurate
Ensure all CVOR registrations are updated and in place (Commercial Vehicle Operation Registration)
Provides governance over daily vehicle checks
Health and Safety:
Ensure warehouse operations are always conducted in a safe manner and report any Health and Safety concerns to management
Implement and enforce standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security in the work environment
Co-ordinate and familiarize volunteers with warehouse health and safety policies and procedures, provide the necessary training on the handling and operating of warehouse equipment/materials
Lead point of contact for Health and Safety Committee
Ensure Health and Safety committee is operational and functional providing governance to monthly meeting
Ensure all health and safety guidelines and standards in conjunction with the Salvation Army Health and Safety Standards are implemented and followed
Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
A college diploma and/or 5 years\' experience in warehouse operations, logistics and supply chain management
Valid forklift license
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety regulations pertaining to warehouse and food handling
Strong CVOR and MTO regulatory awareness
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
Leadership skills and ability to lead/supervise staff and volunteers
Proven track record in managing warehouse operations including demonstrated ability to track, manage and control processes, procedures, and protocols
Demonstrates excellent organization and written and oral communication skills, oral and written
Proven ability to multi-task and manage extraordinary seasonal workload levels in a proficient way by multi-tasking, delegating, and effectively managing/directing staff
A self-starter who is also a team player with an ability to work under pressure, has a high capacity to work quickly in a proficient way with extremely high accuracy rate
Possesses a high degree of integrity with a demonstrated very strong work ethic
Ability to train employees on all operational tasks
Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
