We're seeking a high-caliber engineer with a proven track record of delivering scalable, high-performance solutions in fast-paced environments. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on technical challenges and drives excellence in every project.

In this role, you'll work in collaboration with a team of other developers to create elegant, performant web apps. You'll be instrumental in building an autonomous, cross-functional team that can take a project from design to deployment.

Responsibilities:

Plan and implement APIs for internal and external consumers. Architect and deploy scalable microservices with Python, Docker, and Kubernetes. Design and build responsive, performant web applications using React, Django, and Strawberry, focusing on optimal user experience and code efficiency. Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to the overall improvement of development processes. Ensure that systems are built to be secure, maintainable, and efficient. Stay up to date with the latest news and best practices in web development. Lead performance audits and optimizations to ensure applications meet stringent SLAs for speed, reliability, and security. Drive continuous improvement by implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and best-in-class DevOps practices. Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and integrating them to solve complex business problems.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. 5+ years combined experience in frontend and backend development. Familiarity with both REST and GraphQL API design. Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, React, HTML & CSS. Experience with modern front-end build tooling (e.g. Vite, Rollup). Understanding of containerized application development (e.g. Docker, K8s). Solid understanding of version control systems (e.g. Git). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Demonstrated experience optimizing web applications for high performance, including latency reduction, caching strategies, and handling high-traffic loads. Proven ability to architect and deploy fault-tolerant, scalable systems in production environments. Strong portfolio or examples of past projects showcasing innovative problem-solving and measurable impact. Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog). Exceptional leadership skills, with experience mentoring teams and conducting rigorous code reviews to uphold the highest standards of quality. Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

Bonus Skills:

Previous experience maintaining Kubernetes based web applications. Designing GraphQL schemas and working with Apollo or Relay. Developing testing plans and writing automated E2E tests. Previous experience working in an agile environment.
