How You Will Make an Impact

The HOMES program provides supportive housing to persons who have been homeless and are living with a mental illness. Team members support tenants to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community.

An opportunity exists to join our Mental Health team as a Community Support Cleaning Coach.

Work to make a difference in the lives of tenants living at Mathias Place and other sites within the Good Shepherd HOMES Program. Provide hands-on assistance to tenants with independent living skills in the community - specifically cleaning, laundry, and organization. Be an integral part of the mental health team that supports and advocates for the clients. Work collaboratively with the tenants in their home and in a range of community settings with a range of functions, such a cleaning, and other associated tasks that supports our tenants. Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

What You'll Bring to Our Team

A post-secondary education and experience in social services, personal support, and/or life skills training. A minimum of two years' experience in mental health, health care, developmental services and/or concurrent disorders is required. Prior experience cleaning apartments, especially those affected by hoarding or heavy clutter, is preferred. A 'recovery orientation' and consumer driven' style of practice. The ability to work independently, take initiative and think creatively. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse and complex health and psycho-social needs. Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently in client homes and community settings. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd.
Fluent in English; second language skills are considered a strong asset.
