About the Role:
YMCA of Northern Alberta is looking for candidates who enjoy teaching and developing others to fill the FSCD position (one on one support) of Level 3 Early Childhood Educator to provide high quality care and service to families in YMCA Child Care programs by implementing and teaching programs.
During school hours- Split shift from 7-9a/ 3-6p daily basis except Thursday 7-9a/ 2-6p.
During non-school days and summertime- Flexible hours between 7 am to 6 pm.
Responsibilities:
Consistently represent YMCA's values and mission, comply with all YMCA Policies, procedures and Provincial Licensing regulations
- Work and communicate with a team to implement Child Care curriculum which may include Playing to Learn, FLIGHT and A Place to Connect.
- Guide and redirect children in situations when conflicts arise using a variety of positive child guidance techniques
- Treat all families respectfully, bearing in mind their values, culture and background
- Build relationships with families and communicate, verbally and in writing on a daily basis
- Commit to Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Procedures
- Student Support: Providing individualized support, encouragement, and assistance with tasks, activities, and transitions.
Personal Care: Assisting with personal hygiene needs, such as toileting, diapering, and feeding (lunch), administrating medication (only required for after lunch on non-school days), administrating seizure rescue drug if needed.
Mobility Assistance: Help with moving, transferring, and positioning, using appropriate techniques and equipment (wheelchair, walker, etc)
Specialized Equipment:
Assisting with the use of specialized equipment and assistive technology, e.g. communication devices/books.
Emotional Support: Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support to the individual.
Specialized Care: Provide care tailored to the individual's specific needs, which may include managing specific medical conditions, implementing specialized care plans, or assisting with therapies.
Physical Requirements:
The ability to lift, carry, and position student (with assistance if needed), as well as operate various equipment, may be necessary.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children with special needs is preferred, especially with medical complex children. Tube feeding, seizure management and administer rescue medication experiences are required
- Level 3 Child Care Certification
- Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR - C
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check
