The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams-the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety-and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC is located in the National Capital Region on the unceded territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation.

Key Activities

Under the immediate supervision of the House Manager and/or the Senior Director of Visitor Experience, the Front-of-House Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the highest possible level of customer service from all Front-of-House staff.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Monitoring all aspects of Front-of-House operations and correct any deficiencies or problems that may arise; Supervising Front-of-House staff during performances and other NAC events; Ensuring the efficient delivery of customer service; Liaising with various other National Arts Centre departments; Ensuring a safe and clean environment; Recruiting and participating in the hiring process of staff; Training Front-of-House staff.

Skill Requirements

Post secondary degree in public relations, event management, hospitality and tourism programme (or any related programme); A minimum of three (3) years experience in a similar work environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Extensive experience dealing with the public; Experience in a unionized environment; Demonstrated supervisory skills in a leadership role; Fluently bilingual in both official languages (English and French) with exceptional communication skills; Excellent interpersonal skills; Ability to evaluate and manage changing priorities; Possess good judgment, proven problem-solving skills and effective decision-making skills; Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment as part of a very busy team; Excellent organizational skills and detail-orientated; Proficiency using communication and scheduling technology.
