Almanac Bakery is looking for a warm, organized, and people-first Front of House Shop Manager to lead our front-of-house team!
This is a full-time leadership position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced cafe environment, loves delivering exceptional customer experiences, and is ready to build and support a strong, high-performing team.
As our FOH Shop Manager, you'll oversee the flow of our coffee and retail service, lead daily operations, and play a central role in setting the tone for our space, from the ambiance to the attitude. What You'll Be Doing
Oversee and manage day-to-day front-of-house operations and barista staff.
Create and manage shift schedules and handle shift coverage.
Lead by example - train, onboard, and mentor staff with kindness and clarity.
Monitor and maintain product quality, consistency, and customer-facing standards.
Manage inventory (merch, packaging, bar supplies) and ensure smooth daily flow.
Handle customer issues, complaints, and special requests with grace and professionalism.
Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager to support sales goals and product movement.
Maintain ambiance (music, cleanliness, flow, and mood) in alignment with brand standards.
Run and manage the POS system (Shopify), including cash handling and reporting.
Contribute to and implement systems that improve service, efficiency, and team communication.
Support retail promotions, product pushes, and occasional events.
What You Bring
3+ years of customer service experience (cafe or restaurant)
2+ years of barista experience
1+ year of supervisory or management experience
Food Handler's Certificate
(required)
First Aid/CPR and WHMIS training (preferred)
You're a clear communicator, a calm problem-solver, and a generous teammate
You know how to motivate others, give and receive feedback, and adapt to the unexpected
You're confident using retail POS systems, Shopify, Google Docs/Sheets, Sling, Gmail, and Notion
You're proud to represent the brand and uphold a high standard of care and quality
