Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced and motivated
Lead Server / Front of House (FOH) Manager
to help drive the Pub's continued success. This is a hybrid leadership role combining active floor service with broad operational oversight, team leadership, and input on business development. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, capable of leading by example, and excited to contribute to both the guest experience and the growth of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead and supervise the FOH team during service, ensuring an exceptional guest experience every time.
Maintain a positive work environment by ensuring FOH team member satisfaction and advocating for the team when needed.
Work closely with the Head Chef to provide cohesive leadership across teams.
Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback to staff.
Assist ownership with recruitment by conducting interviews, assessing test shifts, and overseeing the training process with an emphasis on customer service standards.
Create a team schedule keeping within labour budget.
Operations & Performance:
Supervise daily FOH operational activities, including cash handling, tips management, deposits, staff discounts, and inventory pick-up.
Oversee weekly inventory of FOH items (liquor, mixers, disposables, paper products, etc.) and advise ownership on ordering needs.
Monitor Key Performance Indicators to evaluate restaurant performance vs. budget (e.g., revenue, labor costs, discounts, waste) and recommend actions to improve efficiency and profitability.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and labor regulations at local, provincial, and federal levels.
Address operational challenges promptly with effective problem-solving to ensure smooth service and business continuity.
Quality Assurance & Customer Experience:
Actively monitor food quality, cleanliness, and the overall guest experience to maintain high standards.
Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, gathering feedback and resolving any concerns quickly to boost satisfaction and loyalty.
Menu Development & Promotions:
Provide regular feedback to ownership on menu items based on guest and staff input.
Collaborate on ideas for special events, promotions, and entertainment options to enhance customer engagement.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve service processes, team efficiency, and guest satisfaction.
Implement best practices to drive operational excellence and innovation within the FOH team.
Qualifications:
2+ years experience in a leadership or senior server role within a high-volume restaurant, pub, or similar setting.
Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
Excellent organizational skills with an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Solid understanding of FOH operations, customer service principles, and hospitality best practices.
Comfortable analyzing performance metrics and contributing to operational strategy.
Familiarity with POS systems (we use Toast).
Serving it Right required.
Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
