Island Bagel and Bannock is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused individual to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging with customers and supporting a small, Indigenous-led business that celebrates culture and community through food.

About the Role

You will provide exceptional customer service while handling a variety of tasks, including processing orders, packaging baked goods, and assisting with catering pick-ups. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment for our customers and ensuring smooth operations.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist them with their orders. Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Preparing hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, soups, and salads to order Package and display baked goods and other products, food prep, cleanup. Provide information about our menu items, including bagels, bannock, and catering services. Ensure the front counter and seating area are clean and organized. Assist with catering order pickups and communication with catering clients. Support back-of-house staff as needed during busy periods.

Qualifications

Prior customer service or retail experience is an asset but not required--training will be provided. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, professional, and able to work well under pressure. Availability Saturday and flexibility to take on on-call shifts during the week. Basic math skills for handling transactions and change.
