The Community Navigation of Eastern Ontario (CNEO) is a non-profit, bilingual organization that helps to connect people through multilingual mediated access to community, social, health and government services in their community. CNEO has been operating 211 Services in Eastern Ontario since 2008, and is a partner in the Alternative Neighbourhood Response Service (ANCHOR) as of 2024.

We are presently looking for someone in the role of

French Data Lead

. This candidate would report to the Director of Operations. This is a full-time permanent position of 35 hours per week.

Job Summary:



The French Data Lead will be responsible for a new special project funded by the Ministry of Emergency Preparedness and Response. The Lead will implement the translation of over two thousand database records in French and will coordinate and participate in meetings to further the goals of the French Language Service (FLS) committees.

QUALIFICATIONS



Education:



Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field required

Experience/Skills:



Excellent oral and written skills in English and French Minimum three years' experience data maintenance or translation, or relevant field Knowledge of translation softwares, preferably DeepL Pro and Phrase Knowledge of data entry and database management Knowledge of the non-profit sector and human services systems Comfortable to actively participate in meetings

Job Duties:



In consultation with the Technology Lead, oversee AI technology to translate records in database. This process includes using the identified list of service categories within the project plan, and extract resource records in iCarol to process them through AI technology. Verify and correct the AI translation for accuracy, then reintegrate the translated records into iCarol, making sure that the French resource adheres to data standards and formatting. Working with the Data Management Team (DMT), develop a process to translate newly created resource records in times of disaster in a timely manner Provide progress reports to Ontario 211 Services and participate in status meetings as needed (monthly/quarterly) Provide recommendations for potential future processes for all service providers to maintain and update French language data records. Engage with Francophone agencies and with designated bilingual municipalities. Interact and grow working relationships with the external French Language Services (FLS) Advisory Group and the internal FLS Working Group.
Working in collaboration with the chair of the internal French Language Services (FLS) working group, the employee will:

Prepare agendas for the FLS working group meetings in collaboration with the chair. Take minutes and distribute to the members. Assists in other general coordination duties for the committee.

Additional job duties may mirror the Database Curator position and include:



Input data received from various organizations or agencies so that the database remains current, accurate and adheres to professional standards Translate bilingual database record information (mostly English to French, with some French to English) Edit and translate general English and French content, including website content, social media posts, and other pieces of written communications as required Liaise with agencies to gather and verify record information including programs offered, areas served and all other pertinent details Research new services or programs and record creation for the database Learn and applies complex data standards to all entries within the database Build relationships with various organizations via telephone Conduct quality control of database records Produce customized data resources for specialized services and assists with production of the Directories, Maps, and other specialized listings Assist in working with agencies who are leasing our database and/or using customized databases Perform general administrative duties as required Complete various tasks to facilitate the work of the ANCHOR project

HOURS OF WORK AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS



Work is normally performed in a standard office or remotely. A hybrid model is currently in place. Daytime office hours are Monday to Friday between 6 am-8 pm; actual work hours are flexible and can be discussed with management upon hiring May require work in evening or weekend hours, especially in times of emergency

Contract length: 10 months

Pay: $26.37 per hour
