ALC specializes in concrete forming, flatwork, ICF construction, rebar installation, and structural restoration. We support a variety of residential and commercial projects and are looking to add a freelance draftsperson to our team to help us convert design intent into field-ready documentation.

We are seeking a skilled

freelance draftsperson

to produce

shop drawings

based on existing

structural and architectural drawings

. The ideal candidate has experience in concrete construction and understands how to translate design documents into practical, buildable details for use in the field.

Responsibilities:

Create clear, accurate

shop drawings

from architectural and structural plans. Focus on detailing for: Concrete forming (footings, walls, columns, pads, slabs, shear walls) Flatwork and slab-on-grade ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) assemblies Rebar layouts and detailing Structural restoration scopes Interpret redlines, field sketches, and design drawings to develop project-specific details. Coordinate with project managers and site leads to reflect actual site conditions or changes. Provide clean, organized drawings in standard CAD formats suitable for permits, fabrication, and construction.

Requirements:

Proficiency with AutoCAD (or equivalent drafting software). Demonstrated experience in concrete-related drafting (formwork, rebar, ICF, restoration). Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and translate them into shop-level detail. Strong attention to detail and consistency. Good communication and ability to work independently.

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with ICF systems (e.g., IntegraSpec ICF Ontario, Nudura). Experience with restoration drawings or as-built conditions. Knowledge of relevant codes (e.g., CSA A23, ACI standards). 3D modelling (SketchUp, Revit) is a plus but not required.
