Job Description

Our client, the largest provider of property and casualty (P& C) insurance in Canada, and a leading provider of global specialty insurance is hiring. They are looking for an FP& A - IT Financial Specialist to join their growing IT Finance team. Please note that this is a hybrid role downtown Toronto.

To succeed in this role, you must have at least 3 years of experience working in an IT Finance Department in an FP& A Capacity (budgeting and forecasting on ALL IT projects).

The IT Finance team provides operations support with financial expertise. The team is responsible for coordinating the budgeting and forecasting process, advising on budgets to achieve their goals, tracking, and forecasting deviations from plans, and participating in various steering committees. The team plays a vital role with several operational teams on diverse topics such as financial processes, resource planning, end of the month, documentation of processes and training of partners, coordination between the different departments including the portfolio management team, etc.

\xc2\xb7 Consolidation of the monthly presentation of the IT department.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in IT forecasting and budgeting exercises so that the actual and planned budget position of IT projects and portfolios is well understood and communicated to consolidate the information obtained from operations.

\xc2\xb7 Run and compare the resource forecast and budget requests with available staff and contracted resources. Provide insight through monthly resource forecast reports on resource budget and resources needed to complete IT projects.

\xc2\xb7 Provide key analysis of gaps between the actuals, budget and forecast for CC, FTE, and projects.

\xc2\xb7 Provide key actionable insights to senior IT management: create and maintain a dashboard that explains variances (actual vs budget vs forecast).

\xc2\xb7 Continuous improvement of reports such as refining metrics and visualizations

\xc2\xb7 Simplify reporting to automate and streamline processes and lead the transformation with Power BI.

\xc2\xb7 Validation and control of key budget inputs and resulting reports.

\xc2\xb7 Partner with key IT project stakeholders and become a trusted financial advisor.

Your Key Qualifications:

\xc2\xb7 University Degree in Finance, Business, Economics etc. CPA an asset.

\xc2\xb7 3+ years of experience working in an IT Finance Department in an FP& A Capacity (budgeting and forecasting on ALL IT projects).

\xc2\xb7 Familiarity with project lifecycle, waterfall, agile work processes is an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in project financial management or financial reporting preferred.

\xc2\xb7 Advanced Excel (Macros, Pivot, Functions). Oracle Hyperion and Power BI an asset; CA Clarity - Project and Portfolio management (PPM) platform preferred.

\xc2\xb7 Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual French considered an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Excellent attention to detail.

\xc2\xb7 Team oriented and collaborative.
