YOUR ROLE

Job Summary

The Costing Analyst occupies a pivotal strategic position, safeguarding the accuracy and ELC (estimated landed cost) to facilitate well-informed business decisions. As a finance professional, they engage daily with cross-functional teams, establishing and upholding standardized practices, processes, and controls for costing across brands and channels. they furnish COGS variance reports monthly, offer budget and forecast support, and conduct analyses to bolster business choices. Proficient in grasping direct cost drivers and financial systems, they adeptly collaborate across all employee levels, ensuring cohesive operations throughout the company.

Responsibilities

Strategic: 40%
  • Instituting policies, procedures, and processes around costing involves defining clear stakeholders and aligning assumptions between teams, all while ensuring robust governance. This entails implementing internal controls and reporting mechanisms to strengthen costing oversight, including mapping controls for various costing components and introducing new measures when warranted.
  • Promotes and initiates continuous improvements in order to improve organizational processes and generate superior business results;
  • Maximize profitability through product cost savings initiatives factoring in impact from sourcing strategy shifts, duty landscape, macro-economic variables, payment terms, logistics models.
  • Participate in the development, enhancement and implementation of financial system or processes initiatives by providing value added input with respect to FP&A and ensuring that changes in the system or business processes are integrated into ongoing activities;
Operational: 40%
  • collaborate closely with accounting to ensure accurate monthly financial reporting, overseeing comprehensive variance analysis between actual outcomes, budget, forecast, and key metrics. This analysis considers fluctuating channel volumes to focus on Supply Chain-controlled elements. To also initiate monthly business reviews for year-to-date and current month results, enhancing visibility, enabling accurate projections, and delivering value-added financial insights to drive improved business outcomes.
  • Coordinates all aspect of the Budget and Forecast processes for areas within the Scope in terms of deadlines, reviews, targets, system uploads and variance analysis for Direct & OH expenses as well as Capital investments;
  • Supports other teammates during month-end processes to investigate account variances, confirm account reconciliation status with Accounting and ensure timely completion of all required Journal Entries to achieve closing deadlines.
  • Performs ad hoc financial simulations for projects, investments, cost reduction initiatives, etc.;
Leadership: 20%
  • Ensure policies, procedure & processes put in place around costing are followed and understood by operational departments (accountability).
  • Responsible for identifying, pursuing and sharing with teammates technical, professional and interpersonal training programs for his/herself;
  • Ensure alignment between the different teams through regular and clear communication;
  • With the support of the immediate supervisor, responsible for personal development and career planning.
DO YOU HAVE THE PROFILE WE\'RE LOOKING FOR?
  • University degree in Finance/Accounting /or a professional designation (i.e. CPA, CFA, MBA)
  • 3 to 6 years of business experience. Strong business acumen and well-versed in Financial Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or retail industry is an asset
  • Knowledge and skills using SAP BPC, SAP Financials, SAP EPM and AO, is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated leadership skills - knows how to connect and engage with colleagues, enhances dialogues in the workplace, encourages open and transparent communication, is a change driver with creativity and innovation in the workplace;
  • Strong communication skills - Capable of simplifying complex concepts for business leaders and groups, skilled in presenting and articulating intricate issues, comfortable leading discussions, and projects.
  • Intellectual curiosity, desire to understand and challenge our business and processes;
  • Understanding of performance variance analysis, accounting principles and financial reporting aspects;
