Job Description

NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant that has begun production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

The

Formation Specialist

is responsible for cosmetic (appearance) defect analysis of battery cells, coordination with inspection and quality teams, and ensuring timely shipment of material. This role requires a strong understanding of cosmetic appearance criteria, inspection standards, defect handling processes, and logistics coordination. The Formation Specialist plays a key role in maintaining product quality and meeting shipment plans through cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities



Perform cosmetic (appearance) defect analysis and defect mapping of battery cells. Conduct root cause analysis of cosmetic (appearance) defects and support corrective actions. Execute treatment of cosmetic defect cells, including re-inspection, re-input, or other disposition activities as required. Communicate effectively with the vision inspection team regarding cosmetic inspection results and criteria. Coordinate with Quality Inspectors to ensure compliance with inspection standards and defect criteria. Support shipment planning activities to ensure on-time delivery of materials.

Minimum Requirements



Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Requirements



Experience with inspection processes, preferably in a manufacturing or battery-related environment. Experience with shipment of materials and/or logistics operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
