Position Summary

The Forge Quality Control Technician provides quality assurance support to all forging operations, ensuring compliance with customer, process, and company standards. The role focuses on inspection, traceability, and documentation of forge production, including billet temperature verification, lot control, and heat code management. The QC Technician assists production in identifying and resolving nonconformities, maintains quality records, and performs process and product audits. This position works closely with Forge Operators, Production Supervisors, and Quality Engineers to ensure forged components meet dimensional and metallurgical requirements before moving to downstream operations.

Work independently with minimal supervision Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy under difficult conditions (heat, noise, high tempo) Able to identify nonconforming product and follow required processes for escalation and disposition Understand and apply inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality criteria Support problem-solving activities and contribute to corrective action development

Education & Experience

Education: Post-secondary education or Quality Assurance Certification (CQE/QCA) or equivalent experience Experience: 1-3 years related experience in quality inspection Required: Ability to work a rotating two-shift schedule (days and afternoons)

Knowledge



Knowledge of forging processes, billet temperature control, and material traceability Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and part specifications Knowledge of quality systems, document control, ECN's, SOP's, and quality alert processes Familiarity with NDT methods such as MPI and hardness testing Knowledge of production flow and requirements within a forge environment

Skills



Strong computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel; digital log sheets) Proficiency with gauges, measuring tools, and inspection equipment Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Effective communication and ability to collaborate cross-functionally Skilled in accurate data entry, documentation, and traceability processes

Working Conditions



Exposure to high temperatures, oil, dirt, and elevated noise levels in a forge environment Occasional outdoor work required for verification of product identification and lot traceability Required PPE includes heat-resistant clothing, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection Standard 8-hour shifts with occasional 10-12-hour shifts during high-demand or quality-critical periods Frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 25lbs.
