This position works in the Sewer Operations, Maintenance and Construction organizational unit. This is supervisory work involving responsibility for the maintenance of municipal sewer systems. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, scheduling, reviewing, evaluating labourers engaged in sewer maintenance and potentially participating in the work for truck drivers, equipment operators, CCTV inspection. The Foreperson 2 investigates public complaints and initiates remedial action; maintains effective public relations with the community. Independent judgment and action in most aspects of the work is required with more complex problems and policy matters being referred to and discussed with a supervisor who reviews work performance and conformance with desired standards and achievement of objectives. Performs related work as required.


Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by related technical courses plus sound related experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance of sewers; and of related hazards and safety precautions. Ability to plan, assign, supervise and review the work of crews; to read blueprints, sketches, plans and diagrams and to prepare and maintain a variety of records related to the work; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Must be willing to accept standby and call-out assignments. A valid Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia and a EOCP Wastewater Collection Level II Certification is required.
