Job Description


The Foothills Local Immigration Partnership (FLIP) is a collaborative community initiative funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs): - Systematize local engagement of service providers and other community organizations for welcoming and including newcomers in the community - Support community-level research and strategic planning - Improve coordination of effective services that facilitate immigrant settlement and integration LIPs do not deliver services directly to newcomers, but facilitate a collaborative framework with community partners to ensure the development and implementation of successful and sustainable strategies to integrate newcomer/immigrant needs, build welcoming communities, support immigrant recruitment and retention, create active inclusion, and increase the sense of belonging of newcomers. The FLIP coordinator will be primarily responsible for managing and facilitating objectives of the LIP in the communities within the Foothills region. S/he will work together with the CCIS LIP team lead and the Rocky View LIP coordinator, and will be accountable to the Partnership Councils (or their Chair(s)) and a regional coordinator. Responsibilities:

  • Work together with communities in the Foothills region to develop successful and sustainable strategies to: a. Integrate newcomer/immigrant needs; b. Build welcoming communities; c. Support immigrant recruitment and retention; d. Create active inclusion; e. Increase the sense of belonging of newcomers
  • Engage stakeholders in creating more welcoming and inclusive communities in a variety of creative ways
  • Increase the number of stakeholders in the partnership (in the main municipalities, but also the surrounding regions)
  • Reach out to and engage more newcomers in advising, guiding, and leading initiatives
  • Participate in meetings/activities held by partner organizations to foster strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Conduct research about local needs of newcomers
  • Be informed of best practices
  • Facilitate the creation and implementation of a local settlement and integration strategy and action plan
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings
Qualifications: Education: University degree, or equivalent experience, in any Community Development, Intercultural Relations, communication, Social Planning, or cultural-focused discipline. * Experience:
  • Background and demonstrated evidence of recent work in community development and community engagement
  • Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders, maximizing collaboration and creative community solutions
Practical working, knowledge and understating of culturally diverse cultures
  • Experience facilitating groups, processes, and community engagement
Experience in research, strategy development, communication plans, and marketing plans is an asset Knowledge:
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to the successful settlement of newcomers
Knowledge and understanding of communities in the Foothills is an asset Abilities:

  • Current valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and access to vehicle
