Wild Rose Co-op invites applications for the position of Assistant Food Store Manager for our Sedgewick location.

Wild Rose Co-op is an ever growing and expanding co-operative with annual sales in excess of $111 million dollars with food, petroleum, building materials and agriculture products.

The position of Assistant Food Store Manager will be responsible for approximately $3 million in annual sales. The Assistant Manager would be responsible for (but not limited to) the following;

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Food Store. Ensure established short-term strategies, goals, and objectives for the store in alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Oversee adherence to brand and merchandising standards, marketing, image standards, safety and asset protection. Purchase and market convenience store merchandise and manage relationships with vendors.
  • Coaches team members, providing day-to-day direction and guidance, including performance management, training, and development.
  • Manage expenses according to budget while maintaining revenue and superior customer service.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulations, People & Culture, Health & Safety, and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the procurement of merchandise and ensures all ordering schedules are followed, and inventory control programs meet customer requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring the proper receiving and warehousing procedures are in effect.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in communicating operational requirements, operational changes, and translate the vision into initiatives. Provide recommendations and supports internal pricing, promotion and product policies in response to local market needs and competition.
  • Assumes direct responsibility for all cash handled in the store and ensures company procedures are followed in respect to purchase orders and accounts receivable. Responsible for the proper transferring and mark-down records as per company policy.
  • Provide leadership to the Food Store, scheduling and assigning work, performance management, training and development of team members.
  • Applies operational knowledge in key performance areas to oversee the allocation of team assignments to achieve objectives. Take corrective action with team members if the established standards are not being met.
  • Ensures prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service is provided at all times. Ensures all customer complaints, adjustments, and returns are handled in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Participate in the development of products and services to improve profit and increase customer satisfaction, and continually strive to improve store friendliness and customer service.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental policies and procedures are followed, and ensure standards are achieved. Responsible for coordination and oversight of all safety, maintenance, and asset protection policies. Ensures compliance with applicable government standards, as well as ensuring the practice of safety regulations by store employees and customers to promote the elimination of hazardous conditions.
The ideal candidate would have a related degree, certificate or CRS Food Managers training and ADVANCE training with five or more years of operational experience in a leadership role in a similar working environment. Knowledge of commodity sales, gross margin and inventory management are required. Related experience in the Co-operative Retailing System experience would be considered assets.
