is accepting applications for a

Food Services Associate

to join our Dining Services team. This position works full-time while school is in session.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Food Services Associate supports the preparation and service of meals for our staff and students. As a boarding school, Queen Margaret's School provides breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks daily. This role is essential to maintaining our commitment to providing healthy, high-quality, and delicious meals in a welcoming environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare a variety of food items including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and baked goods. Ensure portion sizes, cooking methods, and quality standards are consistently maintained. Set up, stock, and maintain a clean and sanitary workstation. Assist with food service and cleanup as required. Report equipment or food quality concerns promptly to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef. Follow all safety and sanitation regulations in accordance with WorkSafeBC, VIHA, and health department requirements. Support various kitchen stations as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

Experience working in a commercial kitchen or food service environment. Knowledge of food safety practices and standards. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Customer-service mindset and a professional, positive attitude. Understanding of confidentiality and respect when interacting with a diverse community of students, staff, and families.

Preferred:

Serving It Rightcertification.

Working Conditions

Regular weekend and evening shifts, as needed. Typical schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects occasionally. Work is scheduled during the school year (September to June), with optional summer hours available as needed.
