The successful candidate will be self motivated and able to work both independently and in a team setting. Working more hours as a casual staff member will build your seniority hours; this will open more opportunities for you when applying for internal vacancies.As a Food Service Worker with VCH you will:

• Perform a variety of duties according to Food Safe protocols and quality and safety standards including:

• portioning and serving meals,
• washing and peeling vegetables and fruit,
• preparing items such as tea, coffee and toast,
• washing dishes and utensils.
• portioning desserts and assembling sandwiches and salads,
• preparing and portioning diet items in accordance with nutritional plans,
• and measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients by methods such as grinding, blending, slicing, dicing and/or puree.
• Check patient/resident meals/trays to ensure dietary accuracy.
• Strip wagons/trays, wash dishes and pots, clean food wagons, kitchen equipment, fridges and storage areas and wipe down tables and counter areas; you will also sweep and damp mop floors and remove garbage.
• Perform related clerical duties
• May operate a cash register and related equipment, receive payments and provide change for items purchased
• Answer customer queries.

• Grade 10
• One year\xe2\x80\x99s (1) recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Food Safe Certificate Level 1.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
