Position Summary:



Set up, service and clean up meal service to tenants/residents/ Cafe/ staff and visitors

Under the direction of the Faith Manor Dietary Manager; Head Cook will:

Specific responsibilities include:



Respects and carries out the values associated with a person-centered approach which include rights, dignity, identity, individuality, respect, privacy, choice and independence

Provides supportive opportunities of conversation and social engagement to help people live their life and experience well-being

Work within guidelines of food service safety and sanitation.

Complete job duties according to outline of work schedule.

Read current information in communication book.

Attend meetings as required.

Portioning beverages, desserts, condiments and other food items as

required according to menu and special's list.

Checking that necessary equipment and utensils are in place before service (food items to be set out just prior to meal service).

Setting up of tray service according to diet requirements.

Collecting and sorting dirty dishes, cutlery and garbage from dining room and transferring to dish room.

Sending through and/or taking off utensils washed by dish machine, checking that all items are clean.

Washing and putting away pots and pans

Cleaning equipment used in food production maintain sanitary conditions in kitchen, Cafe and dining room service areas, dish room and other areas.

Removal of garbage when half full.

Portions and garnishes salads and desserts, prepares coffee.

Preparing and transporting food and beverage items for between meal snacks for both manors' residents.

Display understanding in ability to use equipment needed to complete tasks

Monitor and assist in keeping daily kitchen supplies on hand

Return items used to proper areas, put away leftover food supplies, transfer to appropriate size container, cover, date.

Report faulty working equipment, accidents, problems to Manager/Supervisor.

To assist others when required and able to aid in creating a helpful and unified environment.

Promote a safe workplace through hazard reporting, adherence to safe work

practices, and participation in safety training.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor

Qualifications:



Food Handler's Certificate required Completion of Food Service Program Ability to work in high temperature areas Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more at different heights, constant standing, walking and repetitive motion. Institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service experience Committed to providing care and work with a person-centered approach Experience in providing physical, social and emotional needs that are in tune with people's changing needs Ability to interact with seniors in a way that it can be understood and communicate in a way that meets every individual's needs and preferences including those that are cognitively challenged. Basic comprehension and practice of safety and sanitation goals. Expression of interest in working with the elderly. Good previous work record if previously employed. Demonstrated initiative and good working judgment in accordance with fellow employees. Ability to demonstrate diplomacy and professionalism when working with families and other professionals. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills Demonstrated success in communicating with all levels of the organization that includes communicate effectively with staff, residents, families/visitors delivery/service personnel and the general public. Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution, and decision making skills. Good judgment skills and the ability to handle and maintain confidential information Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to be proactive and take initiative where required. Ability to focus on assigned tasks Detail-oriented and professional Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work under conditions of frequent interruption, being undisturbed by the complexities and variety of minute details. Competence in computer applications including Microsoft Office and Outlook Demonstrated ability to observe boundaries, engage in appropriate emotional regulation, refrain from dual relationships with residents, maintain confidentiality, and engage in reasonable self-care strategies designed to reduce stress by balancing work/life responsibilities. Ability to read, write, and speak English. A satisfactory and current Vulnerable Sector Screening Evidence of a negative 2 step TB Test, full COVID-19 vaccination and up to date immunizations including Flu Shot (unless medically exempt
Must be available for weekend work as per the Collective Agreement, and to work all shifts and all areas of Faith Manor

Dietary if required by the Dietary Manager.
