Location: Southwood Care Centre

Position Type: Full-time Permament (1.0 FTE)

Hours of Work: 8:00 am to 4:15 pm (flexibility required)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Facility Leader, the Food Services Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day operations, supervision and management of the Food Services Department to ensure that the residents are provided with quality, nutritious food and an optimal `dining experience`. The incumbent is responsible for: 1) implementing therapeutic interventions to address nutritional needs of facility residents; 2) implementation of quality dietetic services for facility residents; 3) providing overall leadership and hands-on assistance to ensure Food Services are planned, organized, delivered, and evaluated in accordance with Intercare\'s mission, vision, values and strategic plan while remaining within budget. 4) working in partnership with other managers and staff to assist in maximizing the performance of individuals, teams and the organization as a whole in providing the best possible customer service to our residents, families, guests and staff.

  • Accepts and participates in the Leadership On-Call responsibilities as assigned by Facility Leader/Designate.
  • Planning, organizing, controlling, coordinating, directing and evaluating Dietary Performance
  • Establishes and implements methods to monitor and control budgets..
  • Ensures the provision of high quality resident care.
  • Demonstrates accountability for effective and efficient use of human resources.
  • Facilitates education within the Department.
  • Provides leadership that fosters personal and professional development.
  • Facilitates research-based practice within the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
  • A minimum of five years\xe2\x80\x99 management experience, preferable within a long term care environment, and inclusive of Food Services Management.
  • Previous experience in institutional/commercial cooking an asset.
  • Minimum of successful completion of a recognized Food and Nutrition Management program and/or a Hospitality Management program or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized Food Safe course.
  • Brings a warm smile with not only an ability to brighten up a room, but to lead a team in providing a unique and meaningful dining experience for residents each and every meal.
  • Able to work flexible hours as required.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication (verbal and written), problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Displays initiative, self-direction, and flexibility.
  • Demonstrates good leadership skills, including the ability to guide other personnel in acquiring skills and knowledge, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, developing innovative approaches to practice and facilitating organizational change.
  • Demonstrates concern and interest in providing a safe and attractive environment for facility customers (i.e. residents, guests and staff).
