, our resort features 25 private beach-front rental units perched on a bluff above the Pacific, surrounded by 40 acres of pristine, rugged waterfront. Our on-site restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday and is known for its intimate atmosphere and commitment to high-quality, locally inspired cuisine.
We're currently looking for a
dependable and versatile Prep/Line Cook
to join our kitchen team. This position plays an essential role in supporting daily food operations and upholding our fine dining standards. The Prep/Line Cook will assist in all aspects of food preparation and service--from mise en place to cooking on the line during our afternoon select appetizer menu , baking bread, preparing daily staff meals, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. The ideal candidate is motivated, adaptable, and eager to work in a supportive, fast-paced environment where quality and teamwork matter.
Key Responsibilities
Prep food ingredients for dinner service following recipes and portion standards
Prepare ingredients and cook appetizers on the line for guest afternoon appetizer service, maintaining quality, timing and presentation standards
Bake fresh, in-house bread and assist with basic pastry and dessert preparation
Plan and prepare wholesome, family-style meals for restaurant staff
Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, tools, and equipment regularly
Occasional opportunities to cook on the line during dinner service
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations
Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen organization as needed
Communicate effectively with team members and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
Responsible for the organization and storage of weekly product shipments
Skills & Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen (fine dining experience an asset)
Strong knife skills
and ability to prep ingredients efficiently and accurately
Solid understanding of
line cooking
, including grill, saute, and plating techniques
Interest or experience in
bread baking or baking fundamentals
High attention to detail, cleanliness, and food presentation
Excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational skills
Strong communication and
teamwork mindset
Valid
Food Safe Level 1
certification
Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Reliable transportation is required, the resort is located 26kms west of Sooke, there is no public transportation to the property
25-35 hours per week, Wednesday through Sunday, hours may vary due to demand
