Overview

Responsible for the Food Center in the daily operations of a production\xe2\x80\x99s food facility, to ensure timely supply of the product to stores. Maintaining food safety standards with provincial regulations and company policies and to ensure cost effective operations of the Food Center.
Responsibilities

  • Completes administrative paperwork: Orders, production, promotions, delivery schedules, pricing and payroll.
  • Gives direction-guidance to Food Center staff, drivers, lead hand on performance, training and positive discipline.
  • Ensures all employees are in compliance of corporate and provincial regulations.
  • Ensures Food Center facility and equipment are maintained and in compliance.
  • Holds Daily and monthly staff communication/learning meetings.
  • Implement the new product lines and create strategies introduced by Category Managers.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires and trains Food Center staff using the appropriate tools (i.e. interview forms, reference checks, CP materials and job aids).
  • Follows HR practices and procedures for positive discipline. Provides regular motivational and corrective feedback to employees as required.
  • Maintains any required food handlers\xe2\x80\x99 certification/license as required and ensures staff is certified as well.
  • Attends weekly and monthly Category Manager\xe2\x80\x99s and Market Communication meetings.
  • Liaison with field management to quickly solve concerns and issues with supply/production.
  • Store visits for quality assurance purposes.
  • Ensure food safety practices and all applicable requirements of HACCP and the SQF System are adopted and maintained. Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of HACCP and the SQF System.
  • Competes monthly store QV and facility self-audit.
  • Develops and implements schedule and procedures for PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance), Emergency Response Maintenance programs and safety inspections.
  • Maintains safety and security of the facility, properly documenting incidents that occur.
  • Some heavy lifting may be required periodically.
  • Completes and verifies month end inventory count.
  • Completes yearly Facility planning on sales projection, budget and cost management.
  • Leads the Food Center\xe2\x80\x99s Health and Safety Committee
  • Mentor, coach and train all Supervisors to raise the level of accountability to staff for better efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Promote and enforce good hygiene and safe food handling (GMP Training)
  • Provide direction, encouragement, and motivation to all production employees.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, consult, manage, and influence change.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • University degree in business or related college course preferred.
  • Demonstrated management experience and knowledge of basic business practices.
  • Minimum of 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 multi-unit retail management experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
This position requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations. It also requires the ability to communicate clearly with all levels of employees from store level staff to market and division management. Must be able to write and verbalize responses to situations to ensure information is understood. Strong interpersonal skills are required along with basic mathematical skills and the ability to analyze and interpret financial reports. The job requires automobile travel daily and may include airline and overnight travel depending on geographic area.

Understanding of HACCP and GFSI certification is an asset.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is an asset.

Expected to offer suggestions on procedures or other areas that would improve the efficiency and production of the Food Center.

DECISION MAKING/PROBLEM SOLVING/IMPACT:

Decisions and problem resolutions involve the support General manager of the Food Center.
