Position Summary





The Mobile Market Food Box Organizer is a key operational role responsible for the coordination and execution of the monthly Good Food Box and Seniors' Food Box programs.



Working closely with Community Development, this role ensures the efficient packing and delivery of 800+ food boxes to families and seniors. Core duties involve managing the logistics chain--from taking orders and procuring wholesale food items to organizing distribution. A major component of the role is managing volunteers, including recruitment, training, and mentoring a team of 40+ individuals who assist with packing and door-to-door delivery route planning.




Key Responsibilities




Take both online orders and referrals for both the Good Food Box and Seniors' Food Box. Liaise with food box recipients, staff and volunteers to ensure program runs efficiently. Order food items from Deodata and No Frills Pack 800+ food boxes monthly containing dry goods and produce weighing approximately 35 lbs per box, items are bought in wholesale size quantities and broken down in to individual orders. Work with volunteers and staff to pack and deliver the Good Food box monthly and the Seniors' Food Box twice monthly. Develop route sheets using excel for door to door delivery of 800+ boxes monthly. Work with community partners to secure volunteer drivers. Mentor 40 + volunteers who pack and deliver boxes monthly. Work with the Volunteer Administrator to recruit and onboard volunteers.

Basic Education and Experience Requirements




Secondary school diploma or equivalent 2 to 3 years' experience operating or working with food programs Experience working with volunteers Experience developing initiatives with multi project partners Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




Secondary school diploma or equivalent 2 to 3 years' experience working with food security programs Experience working with volunteers Experience developing initiatives with multi project partners Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications, expert knowledge of excel Experience with delivery route mapping Ability to work flexible hours Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including lifting up to 50lbs



Other Requirements




French language is an asset. Valid Driver's Licence, Driver's Abstract and proof of vehicle liability insurance as this is a requirement under KCHC's insurance provider (HIROC). This position has several locations of work throughout Kingston.
