NOTE:



This position involves repeated physical movement and exertion. Must become certified in TDG and WHMIS. Must provide a current driver's abstract. Must obtain manufacturer's installer certificates for materials used in the performance of duties.

Position Description

Purpose




The purpose of this position is to perform skilled work related to the installation and repair of floor coverings, wall finishes, and tile work.


Accountabilty




This position is accountable for:

Effectively and efficiently delivering service to all other service units within the Calgary Board of Education; Conducting self in an appropriate manner while carrying out responsibilities in a student environment and/or working with school staff and other service units; and Performing all responsibilities in accordance with Calgary Board of Education and legislative safety practices and procedures at all times to ensure own safety as well as the safety of team members, staff and students.

Responsibilities



Utilizing hand and power tools to install and repair ceramic tile, quarry tile, VC tile, parquet flooring, finished concrete flooring and concrete sub-floors. Repairs carpet floor coverings. Assists in determining the types of material and equipment to be maintained as stock and determining appropriate stock levels. Ensures safe working procedures and conditions exist at all times. Pre-orders tools and equipment when required with sufficient lead-time for effective completion of projects. Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications




Education and Experience


High School preferred Two years of related experience and knowledge of related trades (e.g. Tilesetter, Floorcovering Installer, etc.) Related training or Journeyman Certificate a strong asset Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's license

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

Good communication and interpersonal skills Customer focused and skilled at maintaining and enhancing delivery of service Good time management, organization and record keeping skills Physically fit and ability to lift heavy materials, kneel and bend to work
