About the Position:
We're seeking a dedicated and reliable Float Registered Practical Nurse to join our growing Rx Connect Specialty Pharmacy team. This role involves independently managing infusion clinic operations, scheduling patient appointments, and providing direct patient care. The nurse will work closely with a physician affiliated with the clinic and help build strong professional relationships. Candidates must be organized, have excellent communication and customer service skills, and be comfortable traveling to various clinics across Milton, Oakville, Burlington, Ancaster, Waterloo, Cambridge, and occasionally Chatham, Windsor, and Ottawa. ACLS and PALS certifications are considered assets, as is prior experience with patient support programs and administering infusions or injections.
The base location for this position will be either Burlington or Mississauga. Mileage reimbursement will be provided for travel between clinics.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer and train medications (IV, IM and SC) in the patient's home or specialty clinics settings (s)
Monitor post-injection/infusion treatments as well as chart and report on all activities as directed by program protocols
Provide patient education based on program protocols, individually or in groups
Regular, predictable availability to meet appointment scheduling needs in an efficient and cost-effective manner to provide patients with quick access to necessary therapies
Coordinate daily with patients, case managers, physicians, scheduling and other departments to meet established timelines for scheduling appointments, treatments, and communication of information
Develop and Sustain relations with key stakeholders, Clients, the President, Physicians and other healthcare professionals
Participate regularly in telephone consultations and/or web-based meetings/training sessions with the President or reporting Manager to share information, and uphold professional practice standards
Consult with physicians, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology clients regarding education and implementation of product-specific programs
Adhere to professional nursing standards as prescribed by the professional associations and the company
Perform related duties and tasks as required
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified registered practical nurse (valid provincial license from the College of Nurses)
Healthcare provider CPR certificate required
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Registered Practical Nurse (preferred)
Experience administering injectable medications (IV, IM, SC)
Experience in a critical care, emergency, acute care inpatient/outpatient are considered assets
ACLS certificate required
Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook (e-mail), and MS Word
Excellent customer service skills in dealing with patients, physicians, and our clients
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Able to work autonomously with little supervision as part of a larger remote team
Able to travel to clinics within a set geographical boundary
