Under the general direction of the FPSS Equipment Specifications Coordinator, the Fleet Specifications Technologist/Vehicle Upfitting Compliance Coordinator (VUCC) is responsible for monitoring the daily work progress as it relates to vehicle installs, equipment re-mounting programs, refurbishment programs, new equipment builds and/or alterations/modifications to new and currently in-service equipment and vehicles.
The VUCC is responsible for ensuring Fleet vehicles and equipment conforms to all Federal Transport Canada's National Safety Mark (NSM), Provincial Safety Guidelines and Standards. The VUCC is also responsible for defining technical specifications, authoring of and coordination/administration of bid opportunities, assists with replacement scheduling and forecasting, researching and reporting on procured items within the Fleet Management Agency.
The VUCC will work with the Equipment Specifications Coordinator, FPSS Technologists, FPSS Equipment Inspector, and the Machine Shop Foreman/Supervisor, and external organizations to determine the requirements of each install or modification. This position acts as an agency subject expert liaison between external vendors and internal entities such as the manufacturing facility, repair facilities, fleet procurement & support services, and customers.
