We are seeking a highly analytical Fleet Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a strong financial background to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across fleet lifecycle operations. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between fleet utilization metrics and financial performance to drive insight-led optimizations.
This remote contract role is based in Canada and involves working with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver meaningful reporting and analysis on asset utilization, revenue streams, cost structures, and profitability margins.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide subject matter expertise on fleet lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
Analyze utilization KPIs across fleet assets and services, and map them to financial outcomes (e.g., revenue per unit, margin per client).
Collaborate with finance and operations teams to assess cost of goods sold (COGS) and track net revenue by billing type (e.g., rental, leasing, pay-per-use).
Build and maintain detailed models for net earning assets per client, factoring in both active and expired contracts or leases.
Present actionable insights from financial and operational data, with a focus on margin optimization and profitability at a granular level (unit/client/product).
Design dashboards and reporting tools (in Excel, Power BI, or similar) to support real-time tracking of revenue and fleet KPIs.
Contribute to business strategy sessions by providing clear visibility into financial risks, asset productivity, and underutilized resources.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5+ years of experience in fleet operations, asset management, or transportation services, with strong financial acumen.
Proven track record in:
Fleet lifecycle and asset tracking
Revenue and cost analysis (COGS, margin)
Client-level profitability modeling
Contract/lease-based earnings modeling
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret and present data-driven insights.
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling) and familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills:
Understanding of lease accounting and depreciation modeling.
Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems used in fleet or logistics environments.
Experience working with cross-border fleets or Canadian transportation regulations is a plus.
