Job Description

The Fleet Maintenance Manager leads and supervises the Fleet Team, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance of all company vehicles and equipment. The role involves developing and implementing fleet policies, managing maintenance schedules, monitoring performance and predictive maintenance, overseeing vendor relationships and invoices, and coaching team members. They ensure operational readiness to meet customer needs while maintaining accurate records and a safety-first culture.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Leads and fosters a safety-first culture across fleet operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Develops, implements, and monitors fleet management policies, procedures, and maintenance plans to maximize uptime, minimize downtime, and optimize costs. Oversees vehicle performance, fuel usage, maintenance costs, and predictive maintenance strategies; investigates equipment failures to address root causes. Builds and maintains strong vendor and supplier relationships, audits equipment and vendors, and ensures adherence to company repair policies. Recruits, trains, coaches, engages, and recognizes team members to create a high-performing maintenance culture; manages employee relations professionally. Manages fleet records, tracking systems, maintenance schedules, PM work orders, inventory, warranties, and Fleet Management System (FMS) data. Sets goals and objectives for coordinators, schedules staff, conducts weekly 1:1 coaching, and promotes continuous professional development for self and team. Ensures compliance with CVSA safety regulations and maintains documentation in company systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)



Over 5 years of experience in fleet management, operations, and vehicle maintenance, with preference for experience as a licensed trailer or reefer technician. Bilingual (English/French) candidates preferred. Approachable, positive, and hands-on team player with strong interpersonal skills, including leadership, conflict resolution, and team building. Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced transportation environments, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and a culture of excellence. Skilled in Quality Management Systems (QMS), Continuous Improvement, records management, reporting, and documentation. Analytical thinker, capable of prioritizing workflow, adapting to shifting priorities, and making confident decisions. Knowledgeable in Transportation Industry and National Safety Code requirements, with strong commitment to health and safety. Excellent customer service, communication (verbal and written), and Microsoft Office skills; familiarity with Fleet Management Software and related systems is an asset.
