We are seeking a skilled and organized professional to manage our fleet maintenance and inventory to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Job Summary



The Fleet Maintenance and Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of the company's fleet, including cranes, commercial trucks, automotive vehicles, and construction equipment, as well as managing the inventory of crane parts, bridge building tools large and small, welding equipment, bridges, and misc. materials used in the industry. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, optimizes equipment uptime, and maintains accurate records for all assets.

Fleet Maintenance



Manage preventative maintenance schedules for cranes, commercial trucks, automotive vehicles, and construction equipment to minimize downtime. Coordinate and oversee repairs, diagnostics, and servicing of fleet vehicles and equipment, working with internal mechanics and external service providers. Ensure all fleet assets comply with provincial and federal regulations, including BC's Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) standards and WorkSafeBC requirements. Monitor and track maintenance costs, and in time, ensuring budget adherence and cost-effective solutions. Maintain detailed records of maintenance history, inspections, and certifications for all fleet assets.

Inventory Management



Manage the inventory of Equipment, tools, shop supplies, and materials including some procurement, and tracking. Conduct regular audits of complete inventory to ensure accuracy and identify replacement or repair needs. Manage/Tweak systems to track tool usage and ensure timely and return and maintenance of tools. Coordinate repairs or replacements for damaged or worn tools to maintain operational readiness. Procure all maintenance and welding shop needs and tooling.

Safety and Compliance



Ensure all equipment and tools meet safety standards and are inspected regularly. Train staff on proper use, storage, and maintenance of equipment and tools to promote a culture of safety. Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.

Administrative and Reporting



Develop and maintain accurate records of fleet and inventory using Fleet Cost and Care asset management software as well as in house built small tool tracking spreadsheet. Prepare reports on fleet performance, utilization, maintenance costs, and inventory status for management review. Collaborate with the procurement team to help source parts, tools, and equipment at competitive prices if needed. Assist in developing annual budgets for fleet maintenance and tool inventory.

Qualifications



Education

: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary training in heavy-duty mechanics, automotive technology, or a related field is an asset.

Experience

: Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Experience with cranes, commercial trucks, and construction equipment is highly preferred.

Certifications

: Valid BC Driver's License (Class 5 or higher); Red Seal certification in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or Commercial Transport Mechanic is an asset.

Skills

: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems for cranes, trucks, automotive vehicles, and construction equipment. Hardworking and Motivated Proficiency in asset management software (ours is FCC) and Microsoft Office Suite. Good people managing skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and leadership skills to coordinate with teams and vendors.

Other Requirements

: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions



Location

: Based in Kamloops, BC, with occasional travel to job sites within the region.

Hours

: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime or on-call availability for emergency needs.

Environment

: Combination of office, shop, and field work, with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
