Our Recreation Department is looking for a dedicated Fitness & Wellness Supervisor to join the team.



Position Responsibilities




The Fitness & Wellness Supervisor provides operational leadership for the delivery of fitness, health, and wellness services at the Eastlink Centre. This position oversees daily operations, staff coordination, program quality, safety standards, and revenue-generating initiatives, ensuring an exceptional customer experience and alignment with corporate priorities.




Key Responsibilities




Operational Leadership:

Lead the operational delivery of fitness classes, personal training, wellness initiatives, emergency services fitness training, and sport partner/corporate group programs. Oversee program implementation, service consistency, and continuous improvement to ensure high-quality and safe customer experiences.

Staffing & Workforce Management:

Coordinate staffing assignments for part-time, casual, and seasonal employees, ensuring adequate coverage based on service levels and workload cycles. Provide leadership, coaching, onboarding, certification oversight, and performance management for fitness and wellness staff. Maintain a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team culture.

Program, Partnership & Revenue Development:


Monitor and achieve revenue targets across all fitness and wellness program areas. Develop and expand partnerships with sport organizations, corporate clients, and emergency service agencies to support program growth and community impact. Support business case development, budget planning, KPI tracking, and alignment with City strategic goals.

Customer Experience, Safety & Compliance:

Ensure all programs meet municipal expectations for customer service, operational excellence, safety, and cleanliness. Oversee equipment maintenance, safety protocols, incident reporting, and compliance with municipal, provincial, and industry standards. Gather and analyze customer feedback, attendance data, and user trends to guide service improvements.

Process Improvement & Collaboration:

Streamline operational workflows through technology use, reduction of duplication, and elimination of non-value-added activities. Work collaboratively with internal departments, facility operations, and risk management to support safe and efficient service delivery. Align Fitness & Wellness procedures with corporate systems, policies, and service area standards.

Reporting & Strategic Support:

Prepare reporting on program performance, attendance, revenue, staffing, and department-wide strategic initiatives.



Qualifications



Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Recreation Management, Business Administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum 3 years' progressively responsible experience in fitness or wellness operations, supervision, or leadership, with demonstrated success in revenue generation and partnership development (asset). Recognized fitness certification (BeFit/AFLCA, CanFitPro, CSEP, YMCA, or equivalent). Strong leadership, communication, customer service, financial acumen, and process improvement skills. Knowledge of municipal recreation operations, facility management, and risk/safety protocols. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required. Competence with recreation management software and operational reporting.



Hours




The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.




Compensation




Salary range of $38.02 to $46.69 as per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
