Position Summary:

Fairview Senior's Community is recruiting a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join our Seniors Active Living Centre Fitness & Swim Team. As we build a community for all, this position will develop and implement wellness programs and activities to manage the health and independence of seniors in the Home's community.

Assets and Qualifications:



Post-Secondary Degree or diploma in Fitness and Health, Fitness and Wellness, Kinesiology or equivalent program

Current National Lifeguard Certification/Bronze Cross an asset

Current First Aid and CPR Certification

Experience working with seniors with complex, age-related diseases and/or mental health concerns

Must be self-motivated to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner

Team-work attitude and positive approach to work

Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector component required

Current TB skin test

Full vaccination status required

Position Specific Responsibilities:

include, but are not limited to:

Supervise participants in the exercise room, fitness centre and warm water therapy pool

Lead individual and group exercise classes

Provides safe, supervised warm water therapeutic aquatic exercise programs and guidance to pool participants

Testing of pool water; pool maintenance (chemicals, cleaning, document)

Provide tours to visitors and orientation to new member

Monitor and track exercise progress and health changes of participants

Track attendance of all programs

Maintain equipment cleanliness and function as well as coordinate equipment and repairs and purchase

Set up and take down equipment in exercise classes

Assist participants with transfers and equipment set up as deemed safe and reasonable for successful use of the facilities

Create, modify and assess programs

Assist with social and recreational activities throughout the centre as needed

Maintain participant files

Shift Information:

Primarily Monday - Friday but may include evening, weekend or work on holidays/Part-time, Permanent, 30 hours per week

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.10-$24.07 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
