We are recruiting a Fish Health Technician to join the Fish Health team at Mowi Canada East Inc. This position will be based out of our operations on the South Coast of NL with travel throughout the Maritimes required. Reporting to the Fish Health and Welfare Director, this position is a crucial part of our operations process and ensures the best welfare of our salmon in a sustainable and efficient way. In this role you will provide a high degree of competency in maintaining established standards of safety, quality and accuracy. The main job duties of a the Fish Health Technician role include Marine Sea Site visits to conduct sea lice counts and disease surveillance sampling, Hatchery visits to collect disease surveillance sampling, vaccine side effects scoring and brood stock sampling, data collection and entry, promote a safe and positive work environment and maintain the company’s high standards of fish health and welfare. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Our ideal candidate would be safety oriented and willing to work in a team environment with a passion for the industry. They would have:

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or experience in Aquaculture and Fish Health
  • Data collection and entry accuracy
  • Record and document management proficiency
  • Respect for the need for safe working practices
  • Well-developed English verbal and written communication
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Physical ability to complete repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in challenging outdoor weather
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
  • Willingness to participate in Mowi’s development and training opportunities
  • Willing to travel to other maritime locations outside of Newfoundland
