THIS COMPETITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES AT YUKON UNIVERSITY ONLY.

Reporting to the AVP Student Life, this position will be dedicated to advising on academic (funding, program advising) matters as well as providing nonacademic support and overall guidance for First Nations students on their educational journey at Yukon University.

Aligning with Yukon University\'s value of Indigenization embedded and active across the institution, the First Nations Student Success position serves as a commitment to Truth, Reconciliation, and Indigenization by decolonizing barriers for First Nations learners and addressing systemic issues within post-secondary education. This role works in partnership with the Student Success Division, Yukon University Faculty and First Nations Initiatives Office on campus as well as the 14 First Nations and Yukon Community to support the holistic wellbeing and success of First Nations students. This position is often the first point of engagement with First Nations students and collaborates with students by assessing, responding to, and addressing their needs to support their overall wellness and success at Yukon University.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field required. Master\'s Degree in a related field preferred. Significant relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience working with diverse ages, groups, and cultures to accomplish cooperative community projects and goals.
  • Experience working with Yukon First Nations.
  • Experience in a post-secondary setting.
  • Class 5 Driver\'s License.
