Under the direction of the Education Manager, the First Nation Education Advocate (FNEA) is responsible for providing direct
support for First Nations youth who have been identified to require additional supports with their academic and social emotional
wellbeing at school. The FNEA in addition to being a support in the classroom and throughout the school will also act as a liaison
between home and school to increase student participation, academic outcomes and learning success. The focus of the FNEA will
include but not be limited to, education and completing required curriculum as directed by Robert Service School. Studies may be
completed at Yukon University through Moodle (on line courses) with the supervision of the FNEA.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility
list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary
on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked
candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
Grade 12; with certificate/diploma in education, human services, social work, psychology, justice or other related field. An
equivalent combination of education, knowledge and experience may be considered.
Strong academic skills and the ability to provide academic support to K-12 students
Knowledge of TH traditions, culture and values.
Knowledge of educational, cultural and social issues affecting First Nations people.
Experience developing, organizing and delivering programs.
Experience with case work and administrative duties.
Experience working with children and youth.
Assets:
Conflict management skills
Ability to manage challenging behaviors
Knowledge of TH Final and Self Government Agreements
Knowledge TH Education Priorities
Conditions of Employment:
Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
Class 5 driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract.
Standard First Aid / CPR (obtain within 3 months of hire)
Willingness to take training / courses to further enhance skills as needed.
