Summary
We are seeking a Training Instructor and Building Site Auditor to join our team in Canada. This contractor position is ideal for an active or retired fire fighter, offering a flexible schedule and with two good income opportunities. If you have desire to teach and have some technical interest in building fire and life safety equipment, we would like to hear from you.
Training Instructor Position:
Our primary training audience is building staff, tenants and occupants for commercial office and multi-family residential high- and low-rise buildings. We offer a variety of training programs from fire safety, human induced threats to natural disasters.
The ideal candidate must be able to provide their availability up to 2-3 months in-advance and available during weekday business hours (no weekend work). This is contract work, but we do have annual recurring client training sessions pre-booked throughout the year.
Passion to educate and promote life safety
A professional, good communicator and speaker
Some knowledge of the local fire safety planning regulations is helpful
Some computer and software skills e.g. Email, PowerPoint, Calendar, Apps, Zoom, Teams
Own a good working laptop computer with Windows Pro 11 (WPS can provide a projector if required)
Own a smart phone (iPhone or Android) that can be used to demonstrate our custom developed app in the training session
Own reliable transportation
As part of your training you will be introduced to building fire safety and multi-hazard plans and company developed PowerPoint training programs.
Training sessions are presented on-site at the building or delivered via webinar from your home office. Most sessions are 2 to 3 hours in duration.
Building Site Auditor Position:
This role requires you to visit buildings that have contracted us to develop a fire code compliant building fire safety plan. You will receive site audit training prior to visiting a building and on-going support and guidance from the assigned WPS Project Manager throughout each audit process. Must be available during weekday business hours.
Duties and skills required:
Perform fire and life safety site audits of equipment and systems primarily for office and residential high and low-rise buildings (other building types include, shopping centers, schools, government)
Duties include verifying and completing a detailed building questionnaire and identifying and marking locations of emergency equipment on floor plans, taking digital photos, and coordinating with our clients. Basic knowledge of building systems and life safety systems required (ability to identify and discuss items such as fire alarm panels, emergency generators, etc.). Must have legible printing or writing skills.

Much our work and clients are in the Toronto, GTA and Ottawa region. Some overnight travel may be required (all travel expenses will be covered). If you live in the GTA would be ideal.
