PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Financial Systems Program - Planning Lead, reporting to Director Financial Planning, will support requirement gathering, design, testing and implementation of interim consolidated CPKC Financial Planning and Performance Reporting. With a focus on SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) integration, this role will require a thorough understanding Financial Planning concepts and will need to work with different stakeholders at CP and KCS to understand, develop and align the integration of the master data and key business drivers.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Conduct expense planning activities (Budgeting, Forecasting, variance analysis and Reporting) to understand business drivers and processes;
  • Assess best practices for use of BPC Financial Planning for CP;
  • Assess and develop plan for full KCS Financial Planning integration;
  • Liaise with Information Services and business users to assess existing data structure, provide input on system/process design, and support system test and user acceptance testing for new system implementation;
  • Perform master data mapping and process mapping for new design;
  • Identify actions required to align data with the new integrated systems and processes;
  • Understand and document the dependencies between the different Expense and Capital cost objects and various allocations/distribution jobs required to support the automation of key planning processes
  • Provide support to users in order to effectively and efficiently use the new systems implemented, including providing workshops and creating training content;
  • Provide support, coordination, address and respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Subject matter expert on planning;
  • Application Expertise (desirable): SAP BPC, SAP ECC;
  • Understanding of Controlling/Project Support Data i.e. GL, cost elements, cost centers, projects, allocations, overheads;
  • Excellent excel modelling skills;
  • Process Management Skills;
  • Critical thinker;
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders;
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong verbal and written communication Skills;
