An integral member of the OH Finance department, the Financial Systems Analyst is responsible to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and availability of the financial data for the Finance team. To create, improve and maintain automated financial processes for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Help the Finance team with the creation of ad-hoc datasets and reports; to understand the use of software and financial systems and troubleshoot systems and IT related issues.
Make the finance processes more efficient, reliable, and easier to operate; helping the team to achieve goals and provide accurate and prompt information using less time and resources.
Here is what you will be doing:


  • Work in collaboration with the Finance team on the continuous improvement and optimization of financial processes and the implementation of new technologies or solutions

  • Implement and maintain financial databases and ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) processes

  • Create queries and procedures to consolidate, validate and provide data

  • Operate the processes to collect, consolidate, validate and provide data for the Finance team

  • Create automated processes for Finance use in the accrual, budget, and forecast activities

  • Develop automated processes to create and update Budget and Forecast templates

  • Create financial reports for Finance team, business areas and senior management

  • Identify problems or gaps in the financial systems of the agency, solve problems and implement solutions for improvement

  • Help colleagues in to understand the use of financial systems, automated processes and troubleshooting related issues

  • Advise the Finance team on decisions related to financial systems, automated processes or any IT related matter

  • Design & configuration of interfaces to ensure the complete and accurate exchange of data from the company’s ERP system to/from excel or database reports

  • Design & update consolidated financial reports

  • Develop and maintain system documentation

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, internal audit, external financial statement auditors, external consultants, and other corporate service business units as required

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, computer science or related field

  • 2-3 years’ experience working in financial system analysis with concentration in financial/accounting system

  • Understanding of finance and accounting concepts and principles


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Broad experience with techniques in collecting data, analyzing information, generating reports and database principles

  • Working knowledge of automation/programming and the application of data visualization and reporting tools.

  • Capacity to create automated reports and self-service tools, as well as use business intelligence tools

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Power BI development, publishing, and scheduling reports

  • Ability to identify problems or gaps in the financial systems of an organization, solve problems in a creative manner, and implement opportunities for improvement

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel using formulas, functions, pivots tables and charts and VBA scripting

  • Knowledge of T-SQL, including creating views, stored procedures and functions

  • Open to learning processes and can translate that knowledge to IT teams

  • Ability to design and implement complex modeling tools to improve the financial performance of the organization

  • Be able to work within time constraints while managing multiple priorities

  • Work together with people from different units as required to help them address financial or system issues


Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

Paygrade and Zone: 4B

Employment Location: Toronto, Ontario (currently virtual; subject to change). All applicants must be a resident of Ontario to be considered for roles at Ontario Health.
