The Position:





We are looking for a

Financial Specialist

to join BrokerLink and work from our

Calgary

office on a

Permanent FT Basis

.



The Financial Specialist plays a key role in driving financial accountability across business units by equipping stakeholders with the tools and insights needed to support data-driven decision making. The role has a strong emphasis on monthly analysis and leading FP&A projects aimed at enhancing profitability and operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate possesses expert-level Excel skills and has demonstrated ability to transform complex and varied datasets into strategic business models and actionable business intelligence.

What the Role Entails:




Serve as trusted advisor to business units across organization. Duties would include: + Champion monthly variance analysis - quantitative and qualitative + Influence decision-making with strategic insights and empower our "customers" with data/tools they need to effectively lead their functions
+ Promote financial accountability for business units across organization
+ Enhance delivery of actionable data to drive continuous informed decision making
+ Ability to clearly communicate complex financial topics to non-finance colleagues
Collaborate on preparation of annual budget. Duties would include: + Preparation and modification of templates and initial data sets that are communicated to all stakeholders + Ad-hoc activities required throughout the budget
Collaborate on month-end reports and analysis. Leveraging your expert-level Excel skills. Cooperate on FP&A projects aimed at enhancing efficiencies and profitability Ad-hoc reports and analysis requests from managers/leadership. Integration and champion of new technology tools (Oracle, Databricks SQL)

The Successful candidate will have:

Post Secondary education in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration CPA Designation; with 5+ years of professional work experience Expert-level Excel user. Highly skilled in building dynamic financial models with advanced formulas, modelling data for scenario analysis and VBA/Macros to streamline processes Manipulate large complex data sets and distill complexity into actionable recommendations Working Knowledge of Oracle would be a valued asset Exposure to Databricks SQL would be an asset as we begin transition from MS Access Analytical skills to see larger picture while maintaining strict attention to detail Organizational skills, able to prioritize and thrive while working independently Excellent written and communication skills. Ability to collaborate and influence colleagues Positive team player with a high degree of professionalism and accountability.
