POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Financial Reporting Specialist will be a key member of Graymont's corporate accounting team, providing support to the team and other areas of finance, as needed, to deliver on Graymont's strategic objectives. The Financial Reporting Specialist will be responsible for the preparation of financial reporting, the analysis of technical areas of accounting and other initiatives for a large, multinational company which reports under IFRS.

Possessing a strong work ethic and expertise in financial reporting under IFRS, the Financial Reporting Specialist must be a detail-oriented self-learner who is comfortable working with multiple-deliverables. This individual must be able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Accounting:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports under IFRS.
  • Prepare consolidations and financial statements in multiple currencies including statements of cash flows and note disclosures.
  • Perform technical areas of accounting including employee future benefits, decommissioning and restoration provisions, hedging, goodwill impairment testing, leases, etc.
  • Perform equity accounting for associates.
  • Prepare for and support annual financial statement audits.
  • Prepare pension financial statements and assist with their annual audit.
  • Perform financial analyses for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Perform special projects as required.
  • Other Accountabilities:
  • Collaborate with global finance teams and departments across Graymont to troubleshoot and manage day-to-day issues as they arise.
  • Ad-hoc tasks and projects as may be required or assigned by the Corporate Accounting Manager or other Finance leaders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Designated CPA with audit experience. Public practice accounting experience preferred.
  • Hands on experience with IFRS, including detailed knowledge of accounting treatment and disclosure requirements.
  • Proven ability to research and document accounting issues.
  • Willing and able to perform hands on work in all technical areas of accounting accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical, analytical, research, and organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency with computer software, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience in IBM Cognos and JD Edwards is an asset.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
