Financial Planning & Business Analyst II \xe2\x80\x93 Financial ServicesTemporary Casual Part-Time (Approxiomately 4 months)Mackenzie Health is looking for a strong Senior Financial Planning and Business Analyst to join our dynamic Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a SMART Hospital during a period of significant growth. The FP&BA will be responsible for acting as a business partner working with stakeholders across the organization to \xe2\x80\x9cexplain the story behind the numbers\xe2\x80\x9d. This role will partner with operations with the goals of operational efficiency and sustainability by supporting effective decision making with the use of evidence-based analysis and identifying key opportunities and risks from ongoing operations and future planning.Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, this position will provide ongoing leadership and financial technical support, with the ability to take initiative and be proactive in owning projects and processes, and the ability to work independently without detailed instruction. This role will support selected Programs/Departments for all financial, statistical and budgeting related manners including budget preparation, variance analysis, forecasting, business case development return-on-investment, sensitivity analysis, rate/volume analysis, budget and business case modeling, scenario analysis, contribution margin, and fixed versus variable costing. This candidate will also maintain chart of accounts for both internal management accounting/reporting and MOHLTC accounting/reporting, prepare and submit quarterly and annual reports for various government agencies and for internal stakeholders, provide support in preparation for the annual budget, quarterly reporting and forecasting, annual audit, and month-end and year-end closing, including but not limited to reviewing accounts for reasonableness and posting journal entries, and any other special projects and duties as assigned.What must you have?

  • Undergraduate Degree (Commerce, Accounting, Health Care Administration or Business Administration, preferred).
  • Designated Chartered Professional Accountant and in good standing.
  • Valid Ontario driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and access to a vehicle as the incumbent will be required to attend regular meetings at the main hospital.
What else do you bring?
  • 5+ years of related work experience including variance analysis, financial accounting, financial reporting, data interpretation, forecasting, planning, and budgeting.
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet analysis using Excel and other Business Intelligence tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate financial and statistical information to stakeholders to assist their understanding and decision-making requirements.
  • Performs cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested, including providing training and back-up support for other business analysts, as required.
  • Experience with public speaking and presentations to all levels of staff.
  • Experience with the development of financial models, workflow and analysis for business and process efficiency improvements.
  • Current knowledge of health care trends in Ontario.
  • Experience with performing statistical and financial variance analysis including use of benchmarking and comparative data from various sources such as MOHLTC, OHA and HIT
  • Experience with making recommendations and providing guidance to budget owners and management based on variance analysis, trending/forecasting, and risk management.
  • Proven attendance record.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Commerce/Accounting/Health Care Administration/ Business Administration.
  • Experience in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of the OHRS (MIS) Guidelines as prepared by the MOHLTC
