As the first full-time member of our Finance team, you will help us structure our finances to better understand our business and make strategic financial decisions that help us meet our mission to select and develop professionals the world can trust. You\xe2\x80\x99ll assist with both the day to day accounting as well as deeper financial business analysis, international taxation issues (US, Australia, UK etc.), M&A, and sourcing capital.

This role reports to the Rich Emrich, CEO of Altus Assessments.

This is a full-time role, although we are open to candidates transitioning from parental leave who need part-time employment to start.

What would you be doing?

Finance:

  • Refining our financial model, structuring our bookkeeping and conducting financial analysis to derive insights into the business and guide strategic decision making
  • Overseeing compliance with international taxation related to cross border payments and offshore operations
  • Financial modelling and deal structuring related to M&A activities
  • Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and keeping the company abreast of progress
  • Owning all financial reporting and analysis including preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financials for the Board
Accounting:
  • Managing all treasury functions including day to day banking activities, wire transfers, and bill payments
  • Conducting expense Reporting and Payroll
  • Completing monthly bookkeeping and month-end close processes
  • Responsible for tax activities including HST, and year-end tax filings in conjunction with MNP accountants
  • Applying for government grants, claims and post-project reporting, including assisting Flow Ventures
  • Manage all aspects of HR administration including payroll and benefits
  • Establish appropriate financial controls and policies across the organization

Requirements
  • 5 years of accounting experience
  • 2 to 4 years of start-up experience in a similar role (ideal)
  • CPA designation or something similar
  • Canadian and US tax experience (ideal)
  • Exceptional Excel and financial modelling skills
