FINANCIAL COORDINATOR



Reports To: Rimbey FCSS/RCHHS Executive Director



Full-Time Position - Five days per week.



Rimbey Community Home Help Services is an Alberta Health Services contracted service provider that provides personal care to clients in Rimbey, the west half of Ponoka County, the communities of Alder Flats, Buck Lake, Winfield, Breton and surrounding areas.

Job Requirements



Bachelor of Commerce with Accounting specialization, or equivalent work experience of 5 years or more of progressively responsible roles in Finance Administration.

In addition, 3- 5 years professional experience including full cycle financial reporting, payroll experience, and demonstrated experience supporting a medium size organization with daily finance activities and operations.

Formal Business Process Improvement training is an asset and/or proven experience managing complex systems and ongoing improvements for organizational effectiveness.

Payroll Certification is required through the

National Payroll Institute, or equivalent experience administering payroll with QuickBooks Online or Sage.



Responsibilities



Business Process Improvement and System Implementations



Provide accurate advice on payroll legislation, remittance and system integration with Human Resources.

Assist the Executive Director and Human Resources to facilitate the development of new programs re efficiencies and effectiveness and monitor same in existing programs.

To research, develop and design tools for program and agency evaluation.

To ensure program outcome measurements are completed in a timely manner.

To analyse potential system problems and propose effective methods to resolve issues.

Research and recommend equipment and software upgrades for inclusion in the on- going planning process for quality improvement for the agency.

Participate in short- and long-term planning exercises as needed.

Financial Reporting and Payroll Compliance



Bank reconciliation of all accounts, cheque preparation for accounts payable and payroll, recording accounts receivable & all deposits, keeping bank balances, reporting on client statistics, program spending, budgets, income and spending of government funded and contract programs.

Preparation for audit or accountant's review of activities.

Prepare report of activities annually for Annual General Meeting.

Prepare, tabulate and collect all documents related to payroll such as time sheets, payroll explanations, T4 and other government requirements, record of employment, documents required for audits, workers compensation board annual reports, etc.

Assist staff with WCB claims, E.I applications, CPP and other benefits.

Budgeting



Assist RCHHS/FCSS Executive Director to prepare and monitor agency budget.

Ensure that annual reports and Federal and/or Provincial government requirements are prepared and filed in a timely fashion.

Advisor to RCHHS/FCSS Executive Director of emerging trends or issues related to finance.

Record and maintain records of charitable donations and prepare official tax receipts.

Prepare all documents for chartered accountant and ensure they have all information required.

Financial Quality Control, A/R, and A/P.



Assist with development of policies and procedures for financial quality control and improvement measures for the agency.

Any other duties that may be assigned related to the agency's financial management and well-being.

Always comply with all generally accepted accounting principles and direction from agency selected professional services.

Work directly with Agency approved Accountant on matters pertaining to financial responsibility.

Responsible for statistics and monthly client invoicing for FCSS and RCHHS programs.

Other Duties



Assist the Executive Director to administer all decisions taken by the Board.

Assist in the process of obtaining accreditation for RCHHS/FCSS program.

Attendance at Board meetings as required; provide a written report for board meetings as requested.
