Job Description


The Financial Coordinator, ESL-LINC provides a range of financial functions for all programs administered by the Coordinator, Adult ESL. The Financial Coordinator, ESL-LINC is responsible for all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and securing new funding.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, monitor and manage budget accounts, ensuring compliance with funder\xe2\x80\x99s financial regulations and TVDSB policies and procedures
  • Gathering and compiling financial and statistical information for funding proposals
  • Prepare and submit required financial reports for Federal and Provincial funding agencies
  • Prepare and review budget variance reports acting on those which could jeopardize year end outcomes
  • Prepare year end adjusting entries
  • Prepare and oversee external audits and financial monitors

WORK PERFORMED:
  • Develop, monitor and administer budget accounts
  • Analyze and identify surplus/deficit and recommend actions for most efficient use of funds
  • Make recommendations regarding use of funds within program parameters
  • Oversee the Federal Department funding and Ontario Ministry funding
  • Reconcile Payroll Accounts
  • Determine viability of a class
  • Prepare documentation for claims and submit through Grants & Contributions System (GCS)
  • Prepare and input cash flows and budgets through Grants & Contributions System (GCS)
  • Prepare required reports for the Board, government and funding agencies
  • Prepare and tabulate budget, financial reports
  • Liaise with funding stakeholders to amend project documentation and funding information

QUALITIES/SKILLS/SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Sound understanding of accounting programs and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Advanced proficiency in computer systems such as Outlook 365, MS Office Suite, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of a two (2) year post-secondary program in accounting, business administration or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of related work experience is required
